Information for student pilots
If you have never flown before and would like to receive flight training, the first thing to do is call or e-mail me to setup a time to meet at Eagle Aircraft for an introductory flight.
The introductory flight is available for $59. This includes up to a 20-minute flight to introduce you to both the airport area and flight training environment.
Prior to starting your flight training, you will need to submit completed forms to me or Eagle Aircraft along with a copy of your driver's license and U. S. passport. U.S. citizens may also use a birth certificate to establish citizenship. If you are not a U. S. Citizen, please contact me to inquire about TSA requirements. The next step will be to open a block account ($500) and schedule your first flight lesson.
The flight training for the private pilot certificate includes take-offs and landings, aircraft control, maneuvers training, solo flights, night flights, cross-country (50 nautical miles straight line distance or more), FAA written exam and finally the FAA flight test also known as the "check-ride."
Prior to your first solo flight, you'll need to obtain a FAA medical certificate. If obtained from a Designated Medical Examiner (DME), it will also be used as your student pilot certificate and will need to be endorsed by your flight instructor prior to solo and cross-country flights. Carrying passengers on solo flights is not permitted by the FAA.
A pilot certificate (other than student pilot and flight instructor) is valid until it is suspended or revoked. To act as a pilot in command, every pilot is required to get a flight review with a FAA certified flight instructor every 2 years, complete one or more phases of the FAA wings program or pass a pilot proficiency check conducted by an FAA examiner for a pilot certificate or rating. More information on flight reviews can be found on 14 CFR 61.56.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, feel free to call or e-mail me.
